Crest Classic
Overview
As the director of Design at Crest Pontoon Boats, I contributed to the comprehensive redesign of the Crest Classic series for the 2014 model year, coordinated alongside two other product lines. This strategic effort aimed to forge a unified and distinctive brand image for Crest in a highly saturated pontoon market, positioning the Classic as the timeless, value-oriented flagship with enduring elegance and superior comfort. The redesign centered on a classic and rich interior style tailored to resonate with baby boomers, prioritizing ultimate relaxation, plush seating, premium materials, and refined details for leisurely cruising, family outings, and extended time on the water. The exterior introduced a sleek, sexy fence featuring ornate, two-tone panel designs and classic graphics that create an instantly recognizable silhouette from a distance, blending sophisticated aesthetics with approachable luxury in the entry-to-mid premium pontoon segment.
Contribution I led the development of this project, shaping the visual identity of the 2014 Crest Classic and Crest brand. This included developing the sleek, ornate fence design with two-tone panels and classic graphics to achieve the instantly recognizable silhouette and sexy profile. I also 3D modeled the exterior fence and fiberglass helm, creating precise digital surfaces and assemblies that ensured accurate proportions, seamless integration with the rails and deck, structural integrity, and manufacturability while capturing the refined, timeless aesthetic. I contributed to the classic, rich interior styling by creating upholstery drawings and layouts that emphasize ultimate comfort for baby boomers, along with material selection for premium vinyl’s, foams, and accents to ensure durability, tactility, and aesthetic cohesion. My work helped establish a cohesive brand image across the refreshed product lines, balancing timeless elegance with modern aesthetics and manufacturability.
Outcome The 2014 Crest Classic redesign successfully elevated the brand’s presence in a competitive pontoon market, earning recognition for its timeless style, exceptional comfort, and distinctive, eye-catching fence design that created strong visual differentiation. The ornate exterior and rich interior resonated strongly with baby boomers and family boaters, reinforcing the Classic as Crest’s signature value-driven line and supporting long-term brand loyalty. This project demonstrates my expertise in brand-oriented marine design, aesthetic innovation for market differentiation, material and styling decisions that target specific demographics, and delivering cohesive redesigns that enhance perception, user satisfaction, and commercial viability in saturated categories.
