Overview
As the Director of Design at Crest Pontoon Boats, I development the Crest Savannah NX (Next Generation) series, a flagship high-end pontoon boat that introduced a bold, sport-oriented attitude to redefine perceptions of the traditional “pontoon boat” category. Launched in 2017, this innovative design broke away from the conventional boxy, utilitarian pontoon aesthetic, and continues to influence the lineup. It blended luxury, aggressive performance, and automotive-inspired styling to create a premium watercraft that performs like a sport boat while delivering the spacious, social experience pontoon owners expect. The Savannah NX challenged industry norms, positioning Crest as a leader in ultra-luxury pontoons with sleek, eye-catching lines and high-end amenities for day-cruising.
Contribution I played a key role in designing the fiberglass components that define the Savannah NX’s signature look and versatility. This included creating detailed 3D models for the exterior fiberglass parts (bow modules, seat bases, console, transom lockers, and accents), ensuring soft curves met sharp dynamic lines for an automotive-inspired aesthetic. I also focused on modularity, structuring the fiberglass elements to allow easy adaptation for different boat configurations, streamlining manufacturing while preserving premium quality and fit. Additionally, I contributed to the interior by designing the upholstery patterns and selecting high-quality marine-grade materials—such as soft-touch vinyls, durable foams, and premium fabrics—to deliver luxurious comfort, exceptional durability against UV exposure and water, and a cohesive, upscale feel that complements the boat’s sporty yet refined character.
Outcome The Savannah NX earned widespread acclaim for its groundbreaking design, with reviews praising its “sport pontoon with an attitude,” eye-catching appearance, and big-boat luxury in a pontoon platform. It set a new benchmark in the industry, influencing Crest’s Luxury Line and reinforcing the brand’s innovation since 1957. As a flagship model, it appealed to discerning boaters seeking performance and prestige, contributing significantly to Crest’s growth and reputation for redefining pontoon possibilities. This project highlights my expertise in marine design, particularly in fiberglass integration, modular systems, and creating transformative aesthetics in the boating sector.
